The Vineyards

The age of current lands used for growing vines is between 10 and 20 years. Plants are on espalier on a trellis with a planting density of 3 m by 1.20 m to get healthy and excellent grapes. These are some of the very few farms that are planted in the High Somontano in a privileged location: at the foot of the pre-Pyrenees and at the side of the Sierra de Guara. Given the characteristics of the soil, the climate and the orientation, the properties of the grapes are superb. The vines do not suffer too much stress due to the favorable characteristics of simple ground burdensome, with a reduced production of high quality grapes, together with the fact of making hand pruning. They are located in an area of heavy bush and wildflowers (blackberries, blueberries, wild plums, cerollas, thyme, rosemary, lavender and holm oaks) providing excellent natural yeasts on the grapes.

The sites

The total number of hectares planted with vines is 22.33 ha, spread over six sites:

1st SIERRA: a farm on a slope, with an elevation at its highest point of 800 m and at its lowest of 700 m, south facing with a chalky soil (clay, sand, limestone). We find 2.70 acres of Syrah and 3.40 ha of Garnacha.

2nd LAZAN: a farm of chalky soil on a simple slope, with a maximum altitude of 650 m and a minimum altitude of 600 m, which has one side facing east and one looking to the south. We have planted 4.43 ha of Tempranillo and 3 ha of Cabernet Sauvignon.
